Our Services

Family Support

Respite care can be an essential part of the overall support that families/caregivers need to sustain and care for their child or children.

Stress Relief

Respite is a service provided on a short-term basis to relieve those persons normally providing care.

Preventive Care

Respite can be delivered in the family’s/caregiver’s home or out in the community. Respite services can vary from a few hours for a single day to a whole week or involve overnight care for a limited time.

Unity Maintenance

Respite care can be an essential part of the overall support that families/caregivers need to sustain and care for their child or children. Respite care should be responsive to the individual family/caregiver needs.

Meet the Owner

Hello, I’m Keli Schoeffel. Owner of Take a Break Respite. I have worked as a child Behavioral Specialist Consultant(BSC) since 2009. As a Behavior Specialist Consultant, I evaluate the function of a behavior and determine what responses maintain a specific behavior. The BSC consults with families, schools, and other individuals who are part of the child’s educational or therapeutic team about how to implement a positive behavioral plan, interventions, or techniques aimed at either decreasing or increasing a desired behavior.

As a BSC, I currently work with different schools to provide services and support to students who have various needs including, but not limited to: learning disabilities, behavioral needs, anxiety, Autism, ADD, and ADHD.

I have experience working in outpatient behavioral health in Wraparound, as a Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) and also a Behavioral Specialist Consultant.

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh (PITT) with my Masters degree in Early Intervention with a specialization in Autism and Applied Analysis (ABA). I have over 20 years of experience working with children with special needs.

While working in Early Intervention, as a Developmental Therapist, I recognized there was a lack of services for children with special needs to give parents a break. Often I would hear parents say, “I just need a break.” From that need, I developed the idea to create respite care so that families can have support in caring for their child with special needs. “Everyone needs a break, we are here to help.”
